The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) is the largest public transit agency in Iowa. DART provides transportation anyone can access through services that include 25+ bus routes, paratransit, on demand and on call. Resources support those who vanpool, walk or bike to move through the region in an efficient and affordable way. Services connect thousands of people every day to jobs, school, medical appointments, entertainment and more. DART serves Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Clive, Des Moines, Johnston, Pleasant Hill, Polk County, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights. DART works closely with all regional transportation planning initiatives including the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Transit 2030 Committee. DART also provides coordinated paratransit services to meet its ADA obligations as well as contract service provision for Polk County Social Services and more than 40 other smaller social service organizations. Vanpool services are available for Des Moines area employees commuting into and out of the DART service area, and a carpool matching service is provided for all of central Iowa. |

Fixed Route, Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday (as of October 14, 2007), 7 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Paratransit ADA service operates during the same hours as Fixed Route Services. Certain Paratransit Contract Services operate 7 days/weeks, all hours; Caravan (vanpool) office, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. |

Fixed Route: $1.75 Base, $2.00 Express, $3.50 On Call/On Demand, $48 Monthly Pass, $16 Weekly Pass; Paratransit ADA Service: $3.50 Base; Paratransit Contract Service: Free through Polk County, if eligible - Call 515-286-3484; Caravan (vanpool): fare dependent on miles and quantity of riders within each van.
